HOW TO: Cook Kielbasa and Pierogi

Kielbasa and pierogi is a family favorite of ours. It cooks up quick and simple from start to finish in under 20 minutes! The great salty flavor of the kielbasa and the warm potato middle of a pierogi are a match made in taste bud heaven.

Preparing kielbasa and pierogi is very simple to make with the right ingredients, you will need:

1 1lb polish kielbasa (I am using turkey)
1 package pierogi (frozen or fresh)
1 small onion, sliced
3-4 tbsp butter
1 tsp salt

Now that you have everything you will need, lets begin:

In a pot bring several cups if water to a boil, once boiling stir in salt and add in pierogi.

If using frozen cook for 7-10 minutes or until pierogi surface and float. If using fresh pierogi cook 3-5 minutes or until pierogi surface and float.

Drain pierogi and set aside for a moment.

While these cook lets get everything else ready.

In a large sauté pan add 1 tbsp butter and onions, cook over medium high heat.

You want the onions to cook until they turn translucent, roughly 5-8 minutes.

While these cook, slice kielbasa into 1" thick pieces.

Once onions are translucent, add in the kielbasa and 1 tbsp of butter.

Cook stirring occasionally for 5-8 minutes.

Once kielbasa is warmed thru add in the drained pierogi and 1-2 tbsp butter. Lower heat to low.

Stir continuously until pierogi have fully coated in butter and have crisped up a bit, roughly 3-5 minutes.

Move to serving platter and enjoy!
