Alexander? No not me, I think one of the Borgia’s. Ok so perhaps this is not Italian, however I had strawberries to use up and it went very very well with our meal. Unlike strawberries Romanoff which is apparently strawberries stuffed with caviar. Ummm ok, I think I will skip that. Thanks though…
Brandied Strawberries Alexander
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 Cup of Strawberries tops trimmed
2 Tablespoons of heavy whipping cream
1 Tablespoon of brandy
1 Tablespoon of Curacao (or a little orange extract and an additional tablespoon of brandy)
French vanilla ice cream
8 Small sliced strawberries
Method:
Place the cup of strawberries the brandy, Curacao and cream in a blender or food processor. Pulse until smooth and using a rubber spatula scrape into a plastic freezer container. Place in the freezer and freeze. Remove every 30 minutes for two hours and mix with a fork till mushy. Remove from Freezer 5 minutes before serving and mix with fork again.
To serve, place a tablespoon of the puree in the bottom of 4 martini glasses or sundae dishes. Top with a scoop of French vanilla ice cream, spoon additional berry puree over this, and top with fresh whipped cream and garnish with the sliced strawberries.
