PRODUCT REVIEW: Pampered Chef Apple Corer, Peeler, Slicer

Product Review: I want to start by saying this is not a paid advertisement, I speak for myself only, no companies have given me anything for this review. My opinions are completely my own.

"Pampered Chef Apple Corer, Peeler, Slicer" Overview: Huge fan, great gadget.

Alright, I really love this. I mean really, really love this! This was probably one of the first kitchen gadgets I ever bought. I didn't even have my own kitchen when I first bought this, but I used it. It has saved me so much time and has helped create amazing apple dishes for almost 10 years now.

Now that I have raved about it, I am guessing you want to know what it actual is. Well that is simple, it is an apple corer, peeler, slicer. Seriously is does all three at the same time. To begin you clamp it onto the side of a counter or table. I recommend placing a garbage can under it, since fresh apples are juicy and the juice will drip. Also it is a great way to just slide peels and core right into the trash.

Next you place an apple, the fresher the better onto the little three prong spike/holder. Then you just crank it, yes it is done by a hand crank. But at least your not peeling, coring, and slicing by hand separately. As you crank it there is a little curved blade that peels the apple.

Continuing it pushes the apple into a round opening which cores and slices the apple at the same time. Once your done the apple simple slides off leaving behind the core, which you just pull off and pop into your trash bin. You now have one nicely cleaned and ready to go apple!

Of course for the sake of fairness there are a few drawbacks to the gadget.

First, if the apple is huge, larger than a soft ball its a little tough to get onto the spike/holder. Second if the apple is at all a little past its ripeness, the blade will just swoosh through it, but at least you know it isn't good anymore. Lastly, it only slices in one thickness which is great for breads, muffins, apple sauce or butter, salads, and salsas but not pies. The slices are too thin for a pie but tarts are great!

That is really it. It is a great time saver if your an apple picker. It takes roughly 30 seconds to per apple once you get in the grove. I can have a bushel of apples done and in a pot for apple sauce in under 20 minutes! Now that is a great time saver!
